Saadiya Kochar (Jammu, India - 1979)
After finishing a diploma in mass communication, Saadiya became interested in photography. She trained under Mr. O.P Sharma for a year and then went on to do the ICPP program, at NIFT and then at PAF. While being part of the program, Saadiya, got inspired by her teacher and mentor, Greg, who guided her into fine art.
Right after graduating in 2003, Saadiya published a book titled ‘BEING…..’ after which she has held various solo shows. In 2006 she organized a month long Sufi festival, the opening of which was accompanied by an exhibition of her work. She has also participated in group shows in India and abroad. Saadiya’s works are a part of various private collections.
The duality of existence, La loba, the existential questioning, are all underlying themes. The feminine energy is also a vital part of Saadiya’s works.
Besides her fine art work, Saadiya has worked on various commissioned and voluntary projects.She has also worked on fashion and commercial assignments and has taught photography at the Pearl Academy of Fashion
