Ajay Rajgarhia (New Delhi, India - 1967)
After obtaining a degree from the USA and working in Investment Banking Ajay set up his own garment export business. However, wanting to do something altogether different has made him look at life from a different angle. He listened to music for the lyrics rather than for the rhythm and watched movies to explore behind-the-scene stories rather than the one on the screen. A search that has ultimately led him to a place behind the camera.
He loves to work with still life, nature and "inspiring moments of life". He says his real love is for the moments of life that are captured unawares. "To be able to shoot the image of a single, trampled flower on the ground or just a bird in the throes of a flight liberates me", says Ajay as he often tours the countryside, camera in tow, looking for the right moment.
He is self-taught, consistently working to improve his understanding and technique through informal education in photography. He has been involved in the art of photography for over five years and had his first solo showing in 2006, where he made a promising debut in the world of fine art photography with good critical reviews. He has also participated in, and curated, several group shows. His select works are part of private collections in India and abroad.
